L’OBSOLESCENCE MUSICALE N’EST PAS POUR DEMAIN

Voilà tout juste 1 mois a eu lieu le dernier drumfest de Ralph Angelillo à Québec.
On s’attendait à beaucoup, nous fûmes servis tant le plateau de batteurs présents était de haut Calibre.
 Il y avait les classiques comme Simon Phillips Franck Belluci ou Thomas Lang, nos talents locaux internationaux comme Eric Boudreault, Flo Mounier, Steve Gendron et Stéphane Chamberland. Les découvertes qui nous ont tout simplement abasourdis telles la japonaise Senri kawaguchi ou le très talentueux Greyson Nekrutman. Nous avons eu du rock, du blues, du métal, de la pop, du jazz bref il y en avait pour tous les goûts!
Il y avait aussi de nombreux kiosques ou l’on sentait une ferveur à peine dissimulée, comme si l’industrie venait de rattraper les 2 dernières années signe des temps que la pandémie est bien dernière nous. Je ne saurais trop savoir combien il y a eu de discussions passionnées entre le public et les différentes marques présentes mais une chose est claire : L’industrie et son avenir (même s’il n’est pas facile d’y voir comme dans une boule de cristal) semble toujours en place et malgré les difficultés rencontrées l’obsolescence programmée ne semble pas pour demain tant les passions restent intactes. La lassitude des dernières années a fait place à un renouveau et l’adaptation de l’industrie semble avoir été de mise.

Nous avons aussi profité du festival pour rendre hommage à Ralph. Avoir tenu tout cela à bout de bras pendant plus de 2 ans de galère cela force l’admiration. La détermination de Ralph est un exemple en soi. Un immense merci pour ce que tu as fait dans l’industrie. Un immense merci au staff également qui rend l’expérience vraiment incroyable.
J’espère tous vous y voir l’année prochaine!

MUSICAL OBSOLESCENCE IS NOT FOR TOMORROW

Just one month ago, Ralph Angelillo’s last drumfest took place in Quebec City.
We expected a lot, we were served as the set of drummers present was of high caliber.
 There were the classics like Simon Phillips Franck Belluci or Thomas Lang, our local international talents like Eric Boudreault, Flo Mounier, Steve Gendron and Stéphane Chamberland. The discoveries that simply stunned us like the Japanese Senri Kawaguchi or the very talented Greyson Nekrutman. We had rock, blues, metal, pop, jazz, in short there was something for everyone!
There were also many booths where one could feel a barely concealed fervor, as if the industry had just caught up with the last 2 years, a sign of the times that the pandemic is well behind us. I can’t tell you how many passionate discussions there were between the public and the different brands present, but one thing is clear: the industry and its future (even if it is not easy to see it as in a crystal ball) still seems to be in place and despite the difficulties encountered, programmed obsolescence does not seem to be for tomorrow as passions remain intact. The lassitude of the last few years has given way to a renewal and the adaptation of the industry seems to have been in order.

We also took advantage of the festival to pay tribute to Ralph. To have held all this at arm’s length during more than 2 years of hardship, that forces one to admire him. Ralph’s determination is an example in itself. A huge thank you for what you have done in the industry. A huge thank you to the staff as well who made the experience truly amazing.
